If You Need To Write A
School Administrator Resume... there's good
news and bad news. The good news is that despite the fact that
employment growth for school administrators is only expected to
reach 8% over the next decade (about average for all
occupations), job opportunities will be better than you would
think due to a large number of expected retirements and fewer
applicants for some positions.
The bad news? Those fewer applicants reflect the following
fact: a steady increase in administration
responsibilities that has made the job more stressful and
therefore less appealing for some teachers who may have
otherwise considered a move into management. In addition,
enrollment in elementary and secondary schools is expected to
grow more slowly over the next decade, limiting the growth of
administrative opportunities in this segment. Finally, as
you can imagine, demand for jobs will vary by region.
Bottom line: job openings in school administration will
face some competition, especially for positions in
elementary and secondary education, in the Northeast and
Midwest, and in relatively affluent suburban districts.
Increasingly, resumes competing for good jobs in education
administration are being written by professional resume
services. Should yours be written by a pro?
Well...
The Pro Has Four Advantages When
Writing A School Administrator Resume
The professional resume writer brings some advantages to the
game right off the bat. You'll need to match these advantages,
or compensate in other ways, if you plan to write your own
resume.
-
The professional resume writer is adept in
the techniques of resume writing; format
selection, design and layout, knowing what
information to include on a school
administrator resume, and what to leave off.
- The pro has industry experience that is both perceptive
and objective; a writer who can speak the language while
maintaining that unbiased eye necessary to write
promotional copy that doesn't come off sounding
vain.
- The pro is comfortable working with "keywords,"
utilizing them strategically to ensure that your resume
will pop up in database searches.
- The professional resume writer is, most importantly, a
marketing pro.
OK - My Recommendations For
Your School Administrator Resume
As a former resume writer, I can say without a doubt that
each and every one of my clients, from every professional walk
of life, could have crafted a resume themselves that
could have been competitive in the marketplace. And that
includes clients in school administration. But they came to me
because they didn't have the time or the inclination to get up to
speed on resume techniques. Or they found that their job
qualifications were difficult for them to express in a
promotional -- and unbiased -- manner.
If you're an educator or administrator who falls into either
category, you've got plenty of company. And you've probably
noticed there are a lot of resume services popping up to take
advantage of these economic times. I've dedicated a page,
Review of
Resume Writers, to 9 of the more popular resume
services on the web, providing mini-reviews, showing their
pricing, and giving each a star ranking.
Pressed for time and just want my personal
recommendation? For executive-level attention and quality of
writing, I'd go with either top-rated ResumeWriters.com, (guaranteed
interviews, and writers specializing in over 60 career
fields) or ResumeEdge.com (98% customer
satisfaction rating, and resume partners with the U.S. Air
Force and the Wall Street Journal's online
publication CareerJournal.com). Both companies
do exceptional work at reasonable prices.
That's it. Drop us a note if we can be of further help.
And best of luck in your job search.
